The Dreamcast is a home console released by Sega in 1998 in Japan and in 1999 worldwide. It was the first in the sixth generation and the Sega's final home console, restructured itself as a third-party publisher. During console's lifespan, Sega released numerous Dreamcast models, most of which were exclusive to Japan, such as "Divers 2000 CX-1" featuring a built-in television set. The Dreamcast also supports different original add-ons including a fishing "reel and rod" motion controller and a keyboard for text entry, as well as various third-party accessories. It was also the first console to include a built-in modem for internet support and online play but, despite an initial successful launch, steadily declined due to unsatisfactory sales and significant financial losses. Dreamcast was discontinued in March 2001 with 9.13 million units sold worldwide.
