Retro-bit P-47 II MD Collector’s Edition for Mega Drive
In 1988 P-47: The Phantom Fighter was released in arcades. It was developed by NMK and published by Jaleco. In 1989 ports appeared on the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, DOS, Atari ST, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum under the name P-47: The Thunderbolt in Europe. A version on the Japanese Mega Drive was scheduled to be released as P-47 II: The Freedom Star, but it was ultimately cancelled, so it never saw an official release... until today!
This re-release is named P-47 II MD and features new box art by Tankro Kato, known for his illustrations on Hasegawa model kits. This updated version contains a new sound test mode and more refined graphics. There are a myriad of weapon upgrades and a hyper attack that will clear all enemies and projectiles from the screen, in case of emergency. This is the first time this game has been released with this version compatible with the North American SEGA Genesis® and PAL Mega Drive along with most third party consoles. This is a real treat for shooter fans who can finally experience this game that was almost forgotten.
Battle across the European and Pacific fronts during World War II and take control of the United States Army Air Forces’ P-47 Thunderbolt! Fight to destroy Japan’s super-heavy prototype bomber, FUGAKU. With stunning multi layered scrolling, navigate through beautifully rendered stages, including Europe’s scenic landscapes, high-altitude cloud seas, and vast oceans. Face iconic bosses, such as the battleship YAMATO and the airborne carrier AKAGI!

There are no plans to reprint this version. This version will be kept unique so as not to confuse it with other versions.
The main difference is the lining and reversible inlay graphics for the game case. Additionally, all material is in English rather than Japanese. Finally, the game shell fits perfectly on the North American SEGA Genesis® and the European PAL Mega Drive without any problems.
