NOTE:
The main difference between Sega Genesis and Mega Drive is that the European Mega Drive outputs PAL while the Japanese Mega Drive and the Genesis output NTSC video. The cartridges are physically compatible, but hardware modification is needed to actually run import games. The Japanese Mega Drive has different shaped cartridge slot so using those cartridges requires actually removing some plastic from the slot as well as a region modification.
